The Kentucky Trailblazers wagon club started their 41st annual Renfro Valley wagon train on October 3rd from their club campgrounds just south of Shelbyville, Kentucky. The 2011 version of the wagon train was scheduled to cover approximately 100 miles of beautiful Kentucky back roads as the wagons crossed central Kentucky from Shelbyville to attend the Fall Harvest Festival at Renfro Valley. The weather for the entire week was perfect with clear blue skies and moderate temperatures each day. The wagon train started with 18 wagons leaving Shelbyville on Monday and ended on Friday afternoon of that week in Renfro Valley with a total of 31 wagons. Many riders slept right in their wagons although most jumped on the club school bus and did move up their trailers at the end of each day's ride so they would have feed and supplies available. There were only a few minor equipment problems during the entire week which shows how well everyone had prepared for the trip. Your photographer traveled with the group and had a great time. I took over 4,000 photos during the week of which several hundred can be viewed by clicking on the links below. I hope you enjoy viewing them as much as I enjoyed taking them. Thanks to my good friends Danny Crawford and Homer Rader for inviting me along and to all of the members of the Trailblazers for the hospitality that they showed me all week long. I had a great time and hope they will permit me to make the trip with them again next year.
