We are sorry to report to the horse world the sudden death at home of our friend Mike Stroub on Friday, June 17, 2011. Mike was only 60 years old at the time of his death and had hosted the annual July 4th "Party on the River" for many years on the farm near Cynthiana, Ky where he and his life companion Patricia Hicks lived. Known for his love of big white Percheron draft horses, Mike was a full time farmer and had established the very popular "Pumpkin Patch" just last year as an alternative to the tobacco crop that he had grown for many years. We have combed the archives here at Conley's Horse Photos and have found many photos of Mike and his horses that we had taken over the last 14 years. As a tribute to his memory, there is a link below that will present a short slide show of photos that we took of Mike with his horses and at various events. (Because the photos from the early years were on film and scanned into the computer for this presentation, their quality is not as good as our more recent work.) There is also a link to a series of photos taken following Mike's funeral when his casket was placed in the wagon of his friend Jack Harp for the 3.5 mile trip to the cemetery.
